Ogun State is a state in South-West Nigeria. It borders Lagos State to the south, Oyo and Osun states to the North, Ondo State to the east and the republic of Benin to the west. Abeokuta is the capital and largest city in the state. Ogun state has one federal university -  Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta and two state government universities; the Olabisi Onabanjo University and the Tai Solarin University of Education  Ijebu Ode. Ogun State thus has the highest number of registered universities in Nigeria (nine in all).

However, five of the nine universities are private, which include Babcock University, [Ilisan Remo], the first private university in the country. Ogun state has two major government hospitals, the Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta and the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.

Bobakeye is one of the Ijebu Kingdom traditional age groups, widely known as REGBEREGBE. REGBEREGBE is an organisation of age groups; usually three years interval and well established dated back to mediaeval times by the paramount ruler of the Ijebu kingdom (Awujale) for ensuring the continuous support of development and progress in Ijebu land.

The indigenes of Ijebu land are known as Ijebus and they inhabit the South-Central part of Yoruba land - a territory bounded in the North by Ibadan, in the East by Ondo, Okitipupa and the West by Egbaland.  The southern fringe is open to the sea with the coastlines of Epe, Ejinrin and Ikorodu.  Despite the political division, which has these three towns in Lagos State while the main part of Ijebuland is in Ogun State, the people have always regarded themselves as one entity.

The Ijebu people are one of the main ethnic groups in Ogun State of Nigeria and occupied an area that consists of eight (8) local governments which includes Odogbolu, Remo, Sagamu, Ikenne, Ijebu East, Ijebu North, Ijebu North-East and Ijebu Ode local government. The projected population of these Local Government Areas is over one million people (1991 census) and  can boast of  strong traditional heritage and a sound cultural background at the head of which are enlightened royal fathers.
