Otunba Ijebu land in Bobakeye

To become an Otunba of  Ijebu land, it goes before wishful thinking. One critical fact is that you must have distinguished yourselves in your profession and made contribution to the development of the town with exemplary characters.

Many Ijebus of the royal blood aspire to become an Otunba of Ijebu land. It is the highest honor, the Awujale could bestow on a worthy child of the soil. The Otunbas of  Ijebu land are mostly members of Heritage Group. They are also members of Ijebu Age Grades, quiet achievers and intelligent young people who have made an impact and mostly successful in their various professions. The Heritage Group collectively furnished one of the hall palaces, which was named after them (The Heritage Hall), which is mostly used for age-group traditional blessings and recognitions. The heritage group is anchored by the gentle but powerful Otunba Atewogbuwa of Ijebu land, the Balogun Egbe Bobagbimo and former Commissioner of Finance in Ogun State.
However, June 19th 2010 will forever remain one of the finest days in the lives of two prominent Ijebu sons and members of Egbe Bobakeye Akile Ijebu. It was a day when the paramount ruler, the Awujale of Ijebu land ALAIYELUWA OBA (DR) S.K.ADETONA CFR, OGBAGBA II, to commemorate his fifty (50) years on the throne  honored Architect Ademola Odutola, and Dr Olusegun Oshin. The duos are now otunbas of ijebu land.

Otunba Anikilaya of Ijebu Land (Abiodun Onanuga).

Otunba (Giwa)Abiodun Onanuga was born on the 22nd of June 1958 at Ijebu- Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State.  He started his early education at Emmanuel Anglican Primary School, Italupe in 1963.  He entered Ijebu Ode Grammar School in 1970 and in 1974; he won the first best student prize in technical drawings in the history of the school. He proceeded to the Federal School of Science, Victoria, Island for his A’ levels in 1974 and later to Yaba College of Technology in 1976 where he graduated  with HND (Building) in 1981. He also qualified as a Chartered Builder (MNIOB)

A distinguished Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of (FNIOB), the dynamic and zealous  Biodun worked briefly with Edilit Construction Ltd in 1977 during his industrial attachment. He also worked with Basic Construction Ltd and later with Rotimi & Sons Ltd, where he supervised the construction of blocks of flats at Festac Town, Dodan Barracks and Ikorodu Housing scheme in 1978. He was also involved with the setting out and construction of LSDPC low and medium housing scheme in 1979 at Isolo/Ejigbo, Lagos.

Otunba Onanuga is the Managing Director of Nugacon Construction Company Ltd, established in 1984. The company has contributed immensely to the development of the building industry in Nigeria by way of providing training to students from universities and polytechnics at various levels. Nugacon Construction Company is involve in residential, industrial and institutional building and was given an award of excellence by the Nigerian Institute of Building in the year 2004.  Otunba Onanuga is a member of many organisations that includes Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nigerian British Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Ikoyi Club1938, Island Club, Obanta Social Club, Ijebu Ode Club and Heritage Club.

The history of Bobakeye cannot be complete without him. As one of the founding members of the age group that was formed in 1995, he was elected unopposed as Giwa in 1996. The group under his leadership has produced the former Governor of Ogun State, who was also a founding member, distinguished senators, state commissioners, local government chairpersons, and special advisers, members of state and national assembly and many top government functionaries and successful business men.

A family man, lover of mankind, affable and humane personality. He was also honoured as Otunba Taiyese of Esure by his Royal Highness, Oba (Dr) K. Sansi (Phd), The Obelu of Esure, Ijebu Imushin.

 

Otunba Obalofin of  Ijebu Land (Otunba Gbenga Daniel),

Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel was born on the 6th April 1956. He attended the Baptist Boys High School, Abeokuta from 1969 to 1973, followed by studies at the Polytechnic, Ibadan, and the School of Engineering of the University of Lagos. His decision to study engineering was influenced by the brilliant engineer and teacher Ayodele Awojobi. Daniel spent much time with Awojobi, and was a winner on his television quiz show “Mastermind”.

Daniel became a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He obtained a job with Schrouder (W.A.) Limited, Lagos, rising to Deputy Managing Director. In 1990 he founded Kresta Laurel, an engineering firm specializing in elevators, overhead travelling cranes and hoists. He is also  the owner of the Nigerian Compass, a daily newspaper.

Daniel was elected governor of Ogun State in April 2003, running on the PDP platform. He acquired the chiefly title Otunba Obalofin in his first term in office. He was re-elected in April 2007. He completed his second term as governor of the state on May 29th  2011. He is also a member of Heritage Group and Balogun  Egbe Bobakeye Akile-Ijebu

 

Otunba Boyejo of Ijebu Land (Oskar Ibru)

Managing director of EMSSE Shipping Lines Ltd,  the operator or of Ibru Jetty which is a veritable platform for the receipt, delivery and distribution of petroleum products by a host of oil companies such as Zenon, Total, Ascon, Sahara Energy etc. In May 2006 Oskar ibru was awarded the prestigious Pan African Ethics Golden award for inspiration leadership and for excellent managerial skills and leadership qualities and for contributing immensely to the socio-political and economic development Nigeria.

In recognition and appreciation of the various contributions to his community, Oskar was conferred with the two tittles of Olorogun by HRH, the Ovie of Agbarha Otor Kingdom and HRH, the Owhorode of Olomu, Olomu Kingdom respectively in 2000. In April, 2006 Oskar was awarded a prestigious chieftaincy title by the HRH, Ovie of Ughelli in Delta state. He is also the Olorugon of Bobakeye Alkile-Ijebu.

 

Otunba Fibiwogba of Ijebu Land (Demola Odutola).

The son of a principal, late Pa Suberu Odutola. Demola is a gentleman andan architect by profession.

He is an international and he is property and real estate developer both local and abroad.

He is the executive Chairman of Multi Projects Limited and Queen drives Estate Limited, member of Heritage Group.

He is the Ogbenioja Bobakeye Akile- Ijebu.

 

Otunba Omila of Ijebu Land (Dr. Olusegun Oshin)

A medical doctor by profession and a World Health Organization Certified Malaria Consultant.

He has managed and directed several developmental projects for Africa Development Bank, World Bank, United Nations Agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations, Federal and State Governments.

He is the CEO of Pioneer Associates Limited, and also a member of Heritage Group.
