HRH Oba Bisi Okubanjo (Obiri of Aiyepe)
Alayeluwa Oba Adebisi Okubanjo, JP, who ascended the throne of his forefathers as the Obiri of Aiyepe on Saturday 30th August, 2008, was born on 31st July, 1957 in Itun-Abosan, Idobiri, Aiyepe-Ijebu to late Pa. Ezekiel Adenola Okubanjo and Mrs. Grace Olayemi Okubanjo. At about two (2) years old, he was taken to Lagos by his second mother, Late Madam Olufunmilayo Fatungase with whom he lived his childhood.
He began his education in 1963 at St. Paul’s School, Breadfruit, Lagos for Primary Education, after which he attended Odogbolu Grammar School for his Secondary Education. He had his higher education at the Center for Business Studies (now Greenwich College) London, United States International University, San Diego, California, USA, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife and the Lagos Business School of Pan African University. He holds a Diploma in Banking and Business Studies, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc). and Masters (MBA) Degrees in Business Administration, and Advanced Management Programme (AMP) Diploma of the Lagos Business School. He holds several certificates in short-term Professional Training Courses which he attended locally and abroad. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered MNIM), the institute of Directors Nigeria (Mlo.D), and the Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA).
He had working experience with the United Bank for Africa Plc, Lagos before he left Nigeria for higher education, and also served in the National Youth Service Corps with the bank in Akure, Ondo State on his return to Nigeria. After NYSC, he worked in the Ogun State Civil Service as Inspector of Taxes (Internal Revenue Division) for four and half years (February 1986- July, 1990) during which he served in Ota and was District Head in Odeda and Sagamu. He left the Civil Service in 1990 and joined the Nigerian-British Chanber of Commerce where he retired as the Director General in March, 2008. A dedicated professional, he served as the Secretary of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) Lagos Branch for four years (1999-2003), as well as Member of the Membership Committee of the Institute in 2001-2002. He also served on Committees of the National.Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), as well as an overviewer in the NACCIMA/Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) Washington DC, USA Accreditation Programme in Nigeria. He is a resource person on Association Management in Nigeria. He is a Member of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, Dudley, UK.
A devout Christian, he is an Anglican at home in Aiyepe. He attends Methodist Church, Odi- Olowo Mushin in Lagos where he has held responsible positions. He was Chairman of the Church’s Harvest Committee, Member of Christ Little Band and Young Men Progressive League. He is a Patron of the Boys and Girls Brigade as well as Morning Star Christian Society. He also contributes his modest quota to the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Aiyepe where he is also the Adviser to the Trinity Band Society. A proud Ijebu man, he belongs to the great Egbe Bobakeye Akile Ijebu, to which the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is the Balogun. He is presently the Akowe Egbe. He served as the Secretary of the Ijebuland Industrial Development Committee in 2004 as a nominee of the Ijebuland Inter-Regberegbe Council. A sociable person, he was once the President of the Youngmen Progessive Club, Lagos. A believer in service to community, he contributes tirelessly to the development of Aiyepe. He is a Rotarian, and Member of Rotary Club of Isolo. He is the Patron of the Unique Club of Nigeria.
A blue-blooded Aiyepe son, his grandfathers were from Idobiri, his paternal grandmother was a princess from Afo, while his maternal grandmother was from Odolubisanwa. His maternal great-grandmother came from Aba, while he is also a descendant of the Ogun-Olu family of Odolowu. He was the Otunba Gbadega of Idobiri, Aiyepe-Ijebu, before he was elected to the throne. He is happily married to Olori Abiodun Christianah Okubanjo from Agbowa-Ikosi, Lagos State, a Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, Lagos State. They are blessed with three boys. He is widely traveled in Europe and America.
(4) HRH Oba (Dr) Toye Alatishe (Gbegande of Ososa)
Dr Adetoye Alatishe, the former executive Secretary of Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board was on Saturday 7th August 2010 installed the new Gbegande of Ososa, Ijebu, the home of the doyen of Nigerian theatre late Hubert Ogunde in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State making him the 8th traditional ruler of the ancient town. It was indeed amidst pomp and pageantry that the Ogun State Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel ably represented by his Deputy Alhaja Badru presented him with the staff of office in the presence of the paramount ruler of Ijebu land, the Awujale of Ijebu land, Oba (Dr) S.K. Adetona CFR, and o t h e r prominent Ijebu sons and daughters .
Oba Adetoye Alatishe was born on October 1st 1956 and attended Christ Church School, Porogun, Alapo, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu Muslim College, Ijebu-Ode Federal School of Science, Lagos and Adeola Odutola College for his A -level programme. He proceeded to the Soviet Union (Now Russia) and completed his medical training at the Sechenov’s First Moscow Medical Institute in 1982 and returned to Nigeria to complete the NYSC programme in 1984. He worked briefly with the State government as a medical officer and in 1986 established a thriving private medical centre, ALATISHE CLINIC which is still serving the community in Ijebu Ode and its environs. His achievements in medical practice earned him the post of the Chairman Association of General and Private Practitioners of Nigeria (Ijebu zone) at one time and he was later conferred with the honorary degree of FAGP.
In 2003, he contested and became the Executive Chairman of Ijebu Ode Local Government, and was very instrumental in all the achievements of the administration of Otunba Gbenga Daniel who was also a personal friend. In 2009, he was invited to become the pioneer Executive Secretary of the newly constituted Ogun State Primary health Care Development Board at the time. The achievement while in office is well documented and recognized, most especially the eradication of Polio in the state and currently the Chairman of the Board of Primary health Care Development Board.
Since his coronation, Ososa has not been the same again in terms of modern developments. A new doctors and nurses quarter has been built with resident medical professionals. A new palace is also under construction alongside other facilities in the town.
Oba Dr. Toye Alatishe is married to Olori Adetokunboh Adijat Alatishe with three lovely children who are professionals in their own right. He is a member of Egbe Bobakeye Akile Ijebu, Rotary Club, Lions International and by virtue of his status, a member of Ijebu Traditional Council.
